Last week we were reminded that Christ is truth incarnate. But those who love darkness turn out the light of truth that exposes their shame and they suppress the Truth that would save them from the wages of their sin.
Today, as we near the end of our study in the Gospel of Matthew, we look to the crucifixion. Hebrews 12:2-3 says, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Christ willingly bore the agony and responsibility of our sin, dragging it all the way to the cross. There, together, they died. He is the world’s greatest hero!
If one thing summarizes the Gospel, it’s the cross. Join us today as we, like the Apostle Paul, preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. (1 Corrinthian 1:23)
