Welcome To The River’s Edge
Having completed our study of the epistle of James we invite you to join us in our exposition of the apostle Paul’s epistle to the Romans! Paul is concerned for a young church situated in the most influential city in the Mediterranean World!
This early Roman church was likely made up of Jews who were present to celebrate the feast of Pentecost in Jerusalem, just after Christ was crucified. They were blessed to be present when the Holy Spirit miraculously descended in what appeared to be flaming tongues upon people who began speaking in the languages of the many foreign on-lookers who had made their pilgrimage to Jerusalem; including visitors from Rome recorded in (Acts 2:10).
Of all that Paul wants them to know his first priority is that he is a servant to Christ. Christ who has been given all authority, who is King of Kings, who is sovereign over the universe came in a manger, washed His disciples feet and died a sinner’s death on a cross. Paul, who has been given authority as an apostle, comes to the Romans as a servant of Christ. Let us too be His servants.
