If we truly understand chapter 5 to mean: we’re justified by Faith alone, in Christ alone, by Grace alone and not by our own works, we’re at peace with God because we’re essentially saved, now no matter how great our sin, God’s grace is greater. So Paul naturally warns us: “What shall say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?” - Romans 6:1 Paul is literally disgusted with the notion His concern is that some will embrace sin rather than repent of it, thinking somehow when grace abounds, God is glorified! It’s called antinomianism, a Greek word meaning against law. It is heresy that carries the idea since the law has no value to save us & grace reigns (Romans 5) – we can do as we please. Today we agree with Paul, absolutely not. Because we died, grace reigns, righteous prevails, now, over time and forevermore!
