Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we will touch on the doctrine of God’s Sovereign election, His sovereign choice regarding fallen man.  Romans 3 taught us “None is righteous , no not one;” (Romans 3:10 ESV) “no one does good, not even one.” (Rom 3:12 ESV) “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified by his grace as a gift,” (Romans 3:23-24 ESV)

Romans 6 taught us: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (Rom 6:23 ESV)  So there is the verdict.  Had God not made a choice to save us , which is within His Sovereign almighty power, we would still stand condemned!  But God chose us, He did not ask permission, He stooped to save us.  The difficult thing for us to grasp, as created beings, is that there are some He has not elected to save.  People object and say, “It’s not fair; all should be saved!”  But what is fair; is our condemnation, what is mercy; is our salvation.

Thank God today, that He looked upon your helpless soul, had compassion and adopted you as His own.  You are God’s Sovereign choice, if in fact, you truly believe in the work of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Pastor John
